HALSEY'S NIGHTMARE: EXTENDED PLAY

ASSIGNMENT OVERVIEW: To [re]design an album cover from any music artist of any genre of our choosing. I chose to go with Halsey's NIGHTMARE EP that she released back in early 2019.

Back in early 2019, Halsey released a single by the name of NIGHTMARE. In this particular song, she discusses the struggles she faces everyday as a woman, how women and men are treated in society, the impact that gender-roles play in relationships, the struggles and abuse she's been through, etc. We were allowed to either use still photographs from our chosen artist or work on custom illustrations. I chose to create custom illustrations as I wanted everything from the typefaces I wanted to work with, the overall design layout, and the images to all be custom-made. As someone who has been actively illustrating since he could hold a pen and pencil, I wanted to really incorporate my illustration skills with my graphic design skills. This was by far one of my favourite first-time projects I had to work on in my major class and it remains one of my favourites. I love the song artist so much for who she is, the things she stands up for and for being out-spoken for calling out bullsh*t.
